Stockland’s North Shore is abuzz this week as construction starts on the first stage of a new $7 million community hub, The Junction.

The Junction will be the hub for the community’s northern precincts, with the first stage including a new coffee shop, a state-of-the art playground, display village and new sales centre, set to be completed by late 2021.

With strong buyer interest in North Shore over the past year, The Junction will deliver key amenities for the community and form a central part of the North Shore masterplanned development.

The playground will boast a nine-metre climbing tower – the first in Australia – as well as jumping pillows, a toddler play park, picnic shelters and outdoor barbecues for the whole family to enjoy.

Parents looking to unwind with a coffee or bite to eat will enjoy the new coffee shop, set among public outdoor dining spaces, providing the perfect meeting place for friends and family.

Designed by DC8 Architects and to be constructed by local builder Gedoun Constructions, a new Scandinavian inspired barn-style building will operate as the new sales office and will be situated next to the display village. Home builders are now placing the final touches on the home designs for the village which will feature the latest in build design trends and innovations.

The Junction will continue to develop over the next five years with the inclusion of district sporting fields, dog parks, additional play spaces and outdoor fitness areas.

Andrew Astorquia, Project Director at Stockland’s North Shore, said the first stage of The Junction would be a unique addition to the Townsville landscape.

“The Junction has been designed with families in mind. The playground will be fenced and there will be public toilets close by giving parents the ultimate meeting place to dine out, mix with friends, enjoy a coffee and meet their neighbours, all while the kids are entertained in what will be one of Townsville’s best parks.”

The Junction is the next phase of development in that area of North Shore and will be located next to North Shore State School and the recently opened Greenleaves Childcare Centre, providing a great opportunity for residents to enjoy the best of the community, all within walking distance of their homes.” Mr Astorquia said.

“It is clear North Shore is a very popular location for first home buyers and upgraders. We look forward to delivering an even better experience for our current and future residents.”

Located just 13 kilometres from Townsville’s CBD, North Shore is conveniently designed to ensure schools, shopping, dining, parks, bushland trails and transport networks are just a short walk from home.
