While National NAIDOC Week celebrations traditionally take place in the first week of July each year, there’s still more exciting events to come, with a special NAIDOC celebration held on the 28th July at Providence.  

The Yuggera Ugarapul People, the Traditional Owners of the Ripley Valley area, cordially invite you to their inaugural NAIDOC event, held on the green lawn of Providence, near the Splash ‘n’ Play playground. 

Mark your calendars for Friday the 28th of July, and prepare to immerse yourself in a day filled with vibrant performances, storytelling, games, food trucks, and much more. This event will be a wonderful opportunity for your family to connect with the rich heritage of the First Nations community of Ripley Valley and learn from their traditions.

Inaugural Yuggera Ugarapul Artwork Competition

Artwork will be on display from 18-25 July at the Providence Community Centre for community to come in and vote. Winners will be announced at the event on Friday 28th July.

 

NAIDOC Week 2023 - For Our Elders with Yuggera Ugarapul People

Gain deeper insights into the Yuggera Ugarapul people's profound connection to their ancestral lands, through this captivating video created by Everick Archaeology. Community members discuss the significance of artifact and story preservation, highlighting the immense value of spiritual connection to the land.
