Island Time
With fresh sea breezes and an ocean outlook from the shimmering shores of Redland Bay, Shoreline offers a cool coastal lifestyle. Its enviable location is also the gateway to a collection of pristine islands to explore.
So whether you're seeking relaxation, adventure, or a bit of both, we’ve put together our top local islands for your next adventure.
One of the closest islands to Shoreline which is easily accessible via the Redland Bay Marina, is Russell Island. Here you can head to the local shopping centre and grab a coffee or bite to eat, then meander down to the foreshore to discover a beautiful beach and swimming enclosure. Adventure around the island and you’ll find a library and public swimming pool, or for some friendly competition you can try your hand at lawn bowls over a drink, live music and delicious fare.
As the world’s second-largest sand island, North Stradbroke is a unique, natural oasis, and the perfect destination for a day trip or weekend escape. Accessible via the Cleveland ferry terminal, there is so much on offer. Amity Point is a great spot for fishing, while beach lovers can enjoy a swim at one of Point Lookout’s picture-perfect patrolled beaches. Take a stroll around the iconic Gorge Walk and keep an eye out for whales, manta rays, dolphins and turtles in crystal-clear blue waters. Local koalas spend their days relaxing in the gum trees, and you’re sure to spot one of the many kangaroos who also call the island home.
Macleay Island
With a swimming beach at Pat’s Park, a scenic golf course, and a lawn bowls club overlooking Moreton Bay and beyond, Macleay Island is fast becoming a local favourite. Art lovers can enjoy a visit to the Island Arts Centre, which showcases creative works from the community, and you can stop and unwind at one of the many cafés located on the island. Getting there is easy—simply hop on a ferry from the Redland Bay terminal for a quick 15-minute journey across the bay.
From Victoria Point, take a short 10-minute passenger or car ferry to Coochiemudlo Island, a hidden gem waiting to be explored. With golf, abundant wildlife, and a selection of beautiful beaches, there’s something for everyone. Unwind at Red Rock Café or set off on your own adventure with a self-drive cruise around the island via Coochie Boat Hire.
Moreton Island
A little further afield but well worth the trip, is the world’s third-largest sand island, Moreton Island. Hop on a passenger or car ferry from the Holt St Terminal and discover why this must-visit destination is renowned for its natural beauty. There are so many beaches to explore, and outdoor activities to try your hand at such as snorkeling, parasailing and kayaking to name a few. If you’re looking for wildlife encounters, it’s also hard to beat Tangalooma Island Resort, where you can relax on the beach, snorkel through ship wrecks or take part in a truly unforgettable experience—feeding local wild dolphins at sunset.
With a gateway to so many islands, Shoreline really is a coastal location with it all. Where will your next adventure take you?
