Explore the community on a network of shared paths in Mt Atkinson inspired by Edmund Rice's vision.
A project initiated in 2021 by Edmund Rice has transformed into a vibrant reality, offering shared paths for residents of Mt Atkinson as well as the Grangefields Valley. These paths, dedicated to walking, jogging, and cycling, provide not only a space for exercise but also a sense of belonging.
Responding to pandemic lockdowns, Edmund Rice aimed to optimize the community while encouraging residents to get out for some fresh air. Launched in August 2022, the network comprises 3 loops of 2km each. Additional tracks are set to expand the network further, connecting areas like Killara café.
There are obstacles at some points to provide a bit of a challenge, and the original trails were woven from sheep back in the day.
Information sheets at Killara café provide guidance for users. These shared paths exemplify community-driven wellness and connection, with Edmund Rice's vision leading the way.
