Stockland continues to rollout electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities across our national shopping centre network, allowing shoppers to charge their EV cars while parked at our retail centres.

We now have EV charging facilities at our shopping centres at Point Cook (Victoria), Balgowlah (NSW), Cammeray (NSW), Baulkham Hills (NSW), Glendale (NSW), Baldivis (WA) and Burleigh Heads (Qld).

These initial charge spots have provided Stockland with an opportunity to better understand the technology and infrastructure requirements and assess the demand from EV drivers.

According to Craig Piper, Stockland Regional Retail Manager, “Our customers write to us to thank us for providing the charge spots and to let us know that they now come to our centres more often, even from outside their own area”.

Since we installed the first EV charge spot in January 2015, the charge spots have been used nearly 800 times and have saved over 1800 litres of petrol.

Based on the success of our EV charge spots to date, we are looking to expand the number of charging stations across our portfolio and will soon be installing charging stations at Stockland Shellharbour (NSW) and Jesmond (NSW).

“We’re very excited to be expanding our electric vehicle charging stations across our portfolio of shopping centres and look forward to continuing to roll out this service at other centres throughout Australia. Many of our customers own and operate electric cars and this is the way of the future.” Stockland Regional Development Manager, Stephen Rowe.

As we continue to roll out EV charge spots across our retail portfolio, we look forward to seeing more of our environmentally-conscious shoppers happily plugging in and charging their electric vehicles for free while they shop, dine or grab a coffee.
