Liveability at Elara

How Elara creates liveability

At Elara, we know it takes a lot more than bricks and mortar to create a thriving community. Our annual Liveability Index Survey measures what matters to our residents, so we can design our communities around what’s important.

The Liveability Index Survey invites feedback on all aspects of the community - from quality of built and natural environments, to how it's design supports mental and physical wellbeing.

Delivery of new amenity

Construction of Goodstart Early Leanring Centre and Opal Aged Care Faciltiy are well underway and are scheduled to open late 2022.  These two new amenities are located in the northern end of Elara, along Northbourne Drive and Blackstone Street.

Leafy, green spaces

Late 2021 we commenced opening sections of the Riparian Corridor, a 24-hectare parkland that stretches from Shane’s Park on the south-eastern boundary of Elara up to the 3-hectare lake on the community’s western boundary.  We are putting the final touches to the 3-hectare lake and we hope to have this complete and open to Elara residents and the public by November 2022.

We are busily working towards obtaining development approval and the opening of the Dog Park located at Watkin Crescent to Elara residents and the public by November 2022.

We have submitted a development application for the proposed northern playing fields located at Bolwarra Drive and Parkway Drive. We hope to commence construction of these new playing fields in early 2023.

Calendar of community events

We are looking forward to seeing events return to Elara this year.  We have a schedule of events that are locked including monthly Elara Eats food trucks, movie nights and key festivals such as Diwali, Halloween, Christmas and Lunar New Year.  Our Ready Steady Go Kids and Live Life Get Active continue to run as per usual.

We continue our partnership with Riverstone Neighbourhood Centre and our dedicated Community Development Manager.  Riverstone Neighbourhood Centre will continue to mane the Elara Community Hub, while also working to activate the broader Elara community and engage with residents with regular activities, programs and forums.
