St Clare’s Catholic School taking charge on national sustainability initiative.

Student’s from St Clare's Catholic School in Burdell have won the national school initiative Big Battery Challenge for 2022, launched by Stockland and in partnership with The National Theatre for Children (NTC). 

They have won $1,000 for their efforts diverting over 3,000 kilograms of batteries from landfill and preventing hazardous environmental waste in the last year.

As part of the Big Battery Rescue program, participating schools received a free educational program which included live and livestream educational theatre performances on the positive impact of battery recycling, as well as student workbooks, digital educational games 

The Big Battery Rescue provides a solution to the growing waste challenge in Australia, teaching students about closing the loop and fostering sustainable recycling habits. Since it started in 2020 almost 50,000 students across the country have collected and diverted nearly 10,000kgs of batteries from landfill.
