Want to give it a try? Keep reading to discover exactly how to provide yourself with the most satisfying at home spa day experience.

Start with full body exfoliation

The best way to kick off your at home spa day experience is by removing any dead skin cells from your body so your skin looks and feels healthy and smooth. Dry brushing is an excellent way to do this as it helps to stimulate the lymphatic system, remove toxins from the body, and can also help enhance circulation. To get started on dry skin, start brushing the soles of your feet and work your way up your body using firm upward brush strokes. Use circular motions on your stomach and armpits and when you get to your arms, begin with your hands, and work your way up towards your shoulders and over to your heart where your lymphatic system will drain out any internal toxins. When you’ve finished brushing your entire body, hop into the shower to rinse off those dead skin cells and finish with your favourite moisturiser.

If you’d like to add some aromatherapy to your body exfoliation, instead of dry brushing you can make your own nourishing body scrub using ingredients you can find in your pantry. Create a sweet hydrating body scrub using granulated sugar, olive oil, rolled oats, and honey, or target body breakouts by blending chickpea flour, apple cider vinegar, peppermint tea leaves, and 10 drops of tea tree oil, for a clarifying body treatment.

Treat your skin with a facial

Once you’ve finished your body care, it’s now time for a good old-fashioned facial. Giving yourself an at-home facial can take some time, but each step is necessary to help remove dead skin cells, minimise blemishes, and boost your skin’s hydration levels so you can look and feel confident when you head out for your plans.

Start your facial with a deep double cleanse, ensuring any makeup, sunscreen and additional oils have been washed off so you can start with a clean canvas. Exfoliate using a gentle physical exfoliant or a concentrated peel, to remove any dead skin and then give yourself a good steam. Steaming your face can help draw dirt, oil and grime out of pores and is extremely relaxing, so pop your head over a bowl of boiling water, drape a towel over your head, and let the steam do its thing for about five minutes. Then, apply a mask targeting your own specific skin concerns, before then rehydrating your skin with an oil or serum. If you don’t have a mask handy, create your own brightening face mask using turmeric, flour, honey, and coconut oil. Once you’ve washed off your mask, end your facial by massaging your skin with your favourite moisturiser and serums.

Move onto a massage

Once you’ve finished your facial, it’s time to move onto a full body massage. One of the best ways to treat yourself to a full-body massage at home is by investing in a massage gun. These powerful devices can help stimulate nerve receptors to improve body mobility, break up scar tissue, stimulate collagen, alleviate pain, and reduce the risk of strain and sprains. So, during your at home spa treatment, be sure to utilise your own massage gun and release any tension you may be feeling in your muscles.

Finish with a mani-pedi

An at home spa day just isn’t complete without a manicure and pedicure. Once your skin is nourished and your muscles are loose, painting your nails your favourite shade of red, pink, green, or whatever your colour you choose, just ties the whole experience up in a luxurious bow. It doesn’t matter if you stick to just one polish or try your hand at intricate nail art, decorating your nails is not only extremely fun, but it’s also surprisingly calming and will certainly enhance your evening look.
