Stockland's newest workplace sets a standard in sustainability

02 June 2025

The first workplace building in Stockland’s MPark precinct has just been awarded a 6 Star Green Star Design and As-Built v1.3 rating from the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) - marking it as one of the most sustainable buildings in the country.

Located at 11 Khartoum Road in Macquarie Park, the building has earned the highest possible rating from the Green Building Council of Australia thanks to its fully electric design, smart energy systems, and strong focus on wellness and environmental performance.

Frank Ianni, Head of Workplace Development at Stockland, said the achievement reflects a sustainability-first mindset from the ground up.

“We’ve designed this building to meet the needs of modern businesses - those who care about energy efficiency, low carbon impact, and creating great places for people to work,” he said. “We’re proud that it delivers on those promises, for both tenants and the environment.”

The building features everything from rooftop solar panels and rainwater harvesting, to a façade that brings in natural daylight while keeping heat out. Inside, air quality is actively monitored, finishes are low in harmful chemicals, and energy usage is kept in check with smart lighting and HVAC systems.

Davina Rooney, CEO of the GBCA, called 11 Khartoum Road “an inspirational project” and a strong example of what the future of work can look like.

“This is a high-performing building that supports people and the planet,” she said. “It’s exciting to see workplaces like this helping tenants meet their ESG goals.”

The building is part of the first stage of MPark - a three-hectare mixed-use precinct in the heart of the Macquarie Park Innovation District. It’s been delivered in partnership with builder Taylor and real estate group Ivanhoé Cambridge, with sustainability embedded throughout construction.

As Stockland progresses with the rest of MPark, it plans to go even further - targeting net zero operational emissions, integrating circular design principles, and continuing to work closely with the local Dharug and First Nations community to authentically reflect Designing with Country principles.

For tenants, that means:

  • Access to renewable energy and energy-smart systems
  • EV charging and rainwater reuse
  • Healthier indoor air and low-tox finishes
  • End-of-trip facilities to support active commuting
  • A lobby café that puts wellness on the menu

It’s not just a great place to work—it’s a place that works for a better future.
