New “future-focused school” will soon be part of the Elara community

Early concept designs for the new Marsden Park Public School have been released, as the NSW Education Department forecasts an increase of student enrolments by 2573 students in the Schofields region by 2031.

The new $55 million school, which will be on Northbourne Drive, will cater for 1000 students — or 38 per cent on the region’s total student population — according to the development application submitted to the State Government.

The proposal said the “future-focused school” would form part of the Elara Community at Marsden Park.

The school will feature a communal hall, canteen, library, offices and classrooms, as well as a series of covered outdoor learning spaces and a special education unit.

“The need for public school facilities within Marsden Park is essential to meet the educational needs of the new community and its surrounds,” the application said. “The proposed new school will provide residents with high-quality educations facilities in a suitable location with surrounding complementary community facilities and open space.”

Construction is expected to start in 2019 and finish in early 2021.
