Queensland Rail has expanded its train network to help meet the needs of the northern emerging communities and a new train line to Redcliffe begins operation on the 4th of October with more than 650 train services a week.

This new line will boast high frequency services and commuters should not have to wait more than 12 minutes at peak time to get into the city and home again. This service will extend to weekends as well, with departures every 30 minutes.

The good news also applies to existing passengers on the Sunshine Coast and Caboolture lines who will share the current rail track with services from Petrie to Brisbane Central. This is going to allow a much anticipated review of the Caboolture and Sunshine Coast timetables which has not happened since 2011. So if you live further north, expect to get into town faster! The trip form Kippa-Ring to Brisbane Central takes 55 minutes and services begin at 3:46 am until midnight so you can make those early starts and stay for after work drinks.

Plans for the railway link have been 131 years in the making, with the first proposal being  drafted in 1885.
