The State Government have confirmed that the new State Primary School at North Shore will open for the 2018 school year, with works underway.
Located just north of the Sunhaven precinct, the School will be one of 4 schools constructed in Queensland that will be part of an innovative new approach by the Government in delivering State Schools. The school design has been based on placemaking theory to ensure that safe, inviting spaces that are made for learning, teaching and playing in an innovative way.
With a cluster of Learning Villages around a Central Town Square the innovative design re-imagines the traditional classroom environment by embracing contemporary learning, to include flexible learning options, all-weather outdoor teaching spaces, a “learning lane” and public places to bring the community together. The school will also embrace the arid tropical climate of Townsville with plenty of shade, solar strategies, covered learning areas, strategic placement of louvres, cross-flow ventilation through the school plus much more.
The school will open with a School Enrolment Management Plan in place which will ensure all in-catchment students are able to enrol in their local school. We are still awaiting a formal announcement from the Department of Education as to when and where North Shore residents can enrol their children for the 2018 school year. In the meantime any questions regarding the new school will be best directed to the Department of Education which can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org.
