The project by the Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Low Carbon Living led by Dr Josh Byrne, will look to answer the questions - what do Zero Energy Homes really cost and do people want them?

Three homes will be delivered across Australia as part of the project with the research team from Curtin University and the CSIRO providing design and technical support to the builders. These homes will focus on design, quality build and will be combined with roof-top solar power, making it possible for the homes to meet their own energy needs across the year. With a reduced reliance on heating and cooling, it promotes occupant comfort and addresses concerns of rising energy prices and climate change.

The project will be closely followed and documented in a four-part video series produced by VAM Media and Josh Byrne & Associates, the team behind Josh’s House, Star Performers, Living Labs and Density by Design.
