Stockland’s Sovereign Pocket residents have lost a staggering 465 kilograms and 276 centimetres collectively thanks to the free Live Life Get Active program, which returned to the community this month.
In light of the constantly evolving impact of COVID-19, Stockland Sovereign Pocket wishes to advise that the Live Life Get Active program has been cancelled until further notice. The safety and wellbeing of our residents is always our first priority. We continue to closely monitor the latest advice from health authorities and Government. The local program, now in its fifth year in Sovereign Pocket, has seen steady growth since its inception and achieved outstanding results from its participants across multiple health and wellness activities.
Suitable for adults of all ages, body shapes and fitness levels, the free neighbourhood classes consist of Active Yoga, Active Boxing and Active X Training and offer a ‘go at your own pace’ philosophy to exercise.
Ideal for early birds looking to get a workout in before work, the sessions run each weekday morning in Deebing Heights and are led by a qualified instructor.
The Active Yoga classes offer a total mind-body workout, combining strengthening and stretching poses with deep breathing and meditation, while Active Boxing will help tone muscles by working the lower body, upper body and increasing heart fitness.
For those looking for a little more action, Active X Training provides a circuit-based class that sees members rotate through a number of exercises in bursts of activity followed by short recovery periods.
All fitness equipment across the three activities are provided by Stockland, while each person who signs up to the camp will receive a tailored nutrition plan based on their personal goals.
Dave Franklin, Senior Development Manager at Stockland said the program was a great way for those in the community to forge real relationships between one another, all the while improving their personal fitness.
“Sovereign Pocket has been designed with families and active living in mind, so we’re excited for the return of the free classes which are a natural extension of the lifestyle on offer,” Mr Franklin said.
“We hope the classes, which have been running since 2015, will continue to inspire those in the community to foster happy, healthy neighbourhood networks while getting out and about to enjoy the wonderful open spaces available within the Sovereign Pocket community.”
Kim Geisler, who frequently attends the free community program, said the classes helped improve her outlook on life.
“The exercise program has made me stronger mentally and physically and has given me more social contact with different people in the community,” Ms Geisler said.
“It’s been great to have the Live Life Get Active classes in our neighbourhood as it brings people together in an encouraging environment.”
